Koreatown

MCTIGUE Architecture on July 10, 2025
We work with clients and team members on projects large and small — all of which benefit community, reinforce nature to heal our planet, and provide sustainable business cases.

One Housing project that embodied all of these elements was designed for the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA.

The original building was a two-story, 21-apartment complex with parking underneath in need of refitting. In early explorations with both our client and the city's zoning agencies, we recognized that height and affordability ratios could actually accommodate 59 units. As we expanded our thinking and considered a co-living typology, the opportunity multiplied to provide a potential home for over 150 residents, including not just individual places to live but common spaces to gather as community, as well.

We would love to connect with more developers who are interested in Housing designed with nature for People, Place, Planet — and Profit, too.
